Custom Error Pages
Discover more about web site error pages, precisely when they appear and why should you use customized error pages.
If you have looked at loads of Internet sites, you have probably come across some error message every now and then. An error may take place when the web hosting server can't process a request (Error 400), if you need to log in so that you can see some content and you haven't done so (Error 401), if you are not allowed to access some page (Error 403) or if a link leads to a file which is not on the hosting server (Error 404). Receiving this type of messages may often be annoying as the pages don't have anything in common with the actual Internet site. That’s why some hosting providers permit you to set your own error pages that will match the layout of your own website and which may have any content that you want - information why the error has taken place, a suggestion how to handle it or even some amusing comment. Such a feature shall help you keep the visitor on the website regardless of the error or the reason for it.

Custom Error Pages in Shared Web Hosting
The custom error pages function is available with each and every
shared web hosting package we offer and you will be able to replace all the generic pages with your own with no more than just a few mouse clicks from your Hepsia hosting CP. You shall have to create the actual files and to upload them to your account, then to set them for a given domain or subdomain from the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel. You could do this for every website hosted in the account separately, so that each set of custom pages will have the exact same style and design as the Internet site it's part of. When necessary, you could always return back to a default page from our system or to the default Apache server page. Another way to set personalized error pages is to create an .htaccess file in the domain/subdomain root folder and to include a few lines in it. If you have not done this before, you can simply copy the necessary code from our Help article about this.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Hosting
When you host your websites in a
semi-dedicated server account with our company, you'll be able to set personalized error pages for each of them with ease through our in-house built Hepsia hosting Control Panel. With a few mouse clicks inside the Hosted Domains section, you can modify the default setting from a system page to a tailor-made one for any of the 4 error types. All you need to do is provide a link to every file that you have uploaded before that and then save the change. If necessary, you'll be able to revert this customization whenever you want and in exactly the same way. If you'd like, you can use an .htaccess file too. It has to be created/uploaded in the domain or subdomain folder associated with the site whose error pages you want to modify and the content for this sort of file can be found in our Help article about this matter.
